Day TWO - 5 March 2013

Today is the second day in China, Wuhan. Our lecturer brought us to the classrooms where we will be studying at. We also had a Welcome Presentation by the teachers from this University. First a welcome speech by the vice-principal of Wuchang University of Technology, then a speech by our lecturer, Dr Sujit, followed by one of our students who represent us to give a thank you speech to the host. After which, the local students brought us around the school campus. We first explore the classrooms. Along the corridors, we find many quotes from famous people that would encourage the students to study and have positive mindset. This is one thing that is not done in Singapore and it is a good way we should learn to encourage learning and positive attitude in the students.
We then went to the Library with the welcome banner at the entrance and the different canteens.

Next, we went to the roof garden on top of the library where we can see the Yangtze River and the bridge which we took a group photo.

We got our card for paying of food in school canteen and tried it using just after we top it up with 50yuan. I try Spicy chicken cubes with rice (辣子鸡丁饭), recommended by the local students who brought us for School campus tour.

We went shopping after lunch. The first stall we were fascinated by is the bubble tea stall.
We tried some drinks that we never seen before in Singapore. The drinks come in hot and cold and even the same drink that comes in different temperature tasted different. One drink we tried is the pudding milk tea, when it is hot it is milk tea and when it cool down, the milk tea becomes pudding. It is very special as we never had this kind of drink in Singapore. We continued shopping after that. We shopped for snacks and more household necessities. The snacks costs so much cheaper and it comes in bigger packs!
Guess how many packets there are in one big pack! Its 104 small packets!

On the way we saw this cat that caught our attention! It is so rare to see a cat with two eyes color, with one blue and the other yellow. We then eat our dinner at a Chinese restaurant. It is a type of steamboat. However, the eating style is different. First we eat the meat in the pot like any Chinese style. Then the waitress will add soup into the same pot where we order the Steamboat ingredients and start the steamboat style where we cook and eat all the way. It is a unique way of eating and that is also cannot be found in Singapore.

We were not full after the dinner and went hunting for food along the streets. We bought this wrap to share that look better and seems to be delicious. We tried it at our own risk. It actually tasted very nice and different from our usual wrap in Singapore. Although we were not advised to consumes street food, but you only live once! We thought that we should just try since we are here in Wuhan. One of my friend, Karize manage to buy her shoe because of her tiny feet where the rest of us cannot find a single show that fit our feet and that we have to buy men’s shoe. The day ended where we went back to our hostel to pack for the next day’s lesson. J
