Today is Day3, the first day of our lesson for
Forensic Science. We started the day with a lecture with Dr Sujit on the
introduction of Forensic Science. The lecture was one and half hour that we
went to explore the school canteen for a while before we ate lunch. After which
we went back to the classrooms for tutorial. We watched Cold case, the Lost
Soul of Herman. It was my first time watching Cold case that I take a little
while for me to understand it at first. It was better after I watched the
second time myself. Another different thing from Singapore that I found out is
the classroom. They have computer screen on tables with two earphones. The individual
computer screen can be connected to the teachers’ laptop where we can see
clearly what is on the screen especially for those sitting at the back. Back to
our hostel we found that the whole building do not have water supply. Lucky for
me, I have showered in the morning. My friends were not that lucky that the
whole day they could not shower at all. In the evening, my friends and I went
out again for dinner. We went to try other street food. We tried the mutton skewer
(羊肉串)
that looks like our Singapore ‘Satay’. It was very fresh that the stall holders
barbeque it only after we order. Although the cooking takes time, we do not
mind waiting for the good food! The mutton was piping hot and soft.
We also
tasted the fermented/smelt TouFu (臭豆腐). From the name, we know that it
is smelly. We bought the toufu from a shop and tried it immediately. The toufu
was crispy and delicious! The sauce is the one that gives the smell but it also
gives the good taste. We had one toufu each and quickly went back hostel as we
were told that we will be celebrating Dr Sujit’s birthday. The organizers
bought two cakes for him and prepared a book for us to write birthday wishes for
him. They along with Ms Mikia planned a surprise for him that the first cake is
to smash at his face and the second one is for him to eat. We succeed in the
surprise but we seem to forget that there is no water supply the whole day!
Lucky for him, my roommates and I had saved a bucket of water for flushing
toilet bowls and that he used the bucket of water to wash up! The day ended
after cleaning up the mess from the surprise.
